My Story

From skinny gamer to active trainer

People always make the claim that fitness saved their lives, and it always seems cliche. But it normally is the case that fitness helps people build their lives in multiple ways they didn't realise they could. 

For me it started with being an incredibly skinny/scrawny (as people told me daily) kid. Constantly told I looked ill, and i probably did at 8 Stone 9lbs being 5ft 11inch tall. I thought I had tried everything and was doing it all correctly (which I wasn't), but no weight would come on for me. This changed with the gym, and a good friend who introduced me to what working out actually looks like. By the end of a year working out together I was up to 10 stone and starting to feel better about myself. Little did I know I would be stuck at this weight for years never progressing while yo-yoing on and off training. 

This all changed for me when I had my first child. Realising I need to be a symbol of health for my daughter I set myself the task of learning, and working at my nutrition and training. Now forward a few years I am sitting comfortably at 12 stone stronger than I have ever been all whilst comfortably completing 10k's, half marathons and obstacle events.  

Fitness saved me from spiralling into a darker place due to feeling inadequate and maybe fitness can help you reach your goals both mentally and physically too. Don't be afraid to try!
